Australia's third and fourth largest telecommunications companies, TPG Telecom and Vodafone Group's local subsidiary have confirmed they merge "to create a more effective challenger to Telstra and Optus."
The Australian government's decision to ban Chinese company, Huawei, from involvement in the 5G rollout is a “significant change which fundamentally undermines Australia’s 5G future”, asserts Vodafone.
"We will do a few stunts, or demos and things like that … but that’s not really the core of the 5G launch,” says Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) chief, Iñaki Berroeta, as he talks down the hype around 5G.
