Top 25 brands Australians access on their smartphone

In September, Australian adults spent an average of 35 hours on their smartphones, in an average of 199 sessions, according to a report published by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and ratings company Nielsen.

The report identifys the most popular brands accessed across web browsers and apps by Australian users.

Not surprisingly the search engines and tech giants dominated the top five spots:

  • No. 1 - Google
  • No. 2 - Facebook
  • No. 3 - YouTube
  • No. 4 - Apple
  • No. 5 - Yahoo

Social Media was also well represented: 

  • No. 2 - Facebook
  • No. 7 - Instagram
  • No. 9 - Twitter

In 11th place for smartphone use was the Commonwealth Bank App, which has a user base of almost 3 million each month on smartphone devices.

Tablet Devices

The rankings for tablet use show that users were more inclined to use content and shop on the bigger device. Therefore sites such as eBay, Pinterest, PayPal and Amazon were prominent.
